Explore Mungo National Park

Turlee Station Stay is a short drive from the entrance to Mungo National Park, only 32km (30 minutes drive). Mungo National Park is one of the world’s most naturally remarkable places.

In 2010, it was named by the well acclaimed travel writers, Lonely Planet, as being the 3rd best national park in the world!

Aboriginal people have walked here in the footsteps of their ancestors since the dreamtime. Scientists have found artefacts of this culture dating back over 50,000 years across the expanse of the last ice age, making Mungo one of the oldest places outside of Africa to have been occupied by modern humans.

The Mungo Visitor Centre and meeting place are at the centre of the park and the location to start your quest for adventure and discovery. Informative exhibits and a recreation of the 20,000 year old footprints as well as the historic woolshed can be found here. Park fee desk, visitor info, public toilets and BBQs can all be found around the meeting place and visitor centre.

Aboriginal discovery tours are conducted by the Aboriginal rangers from the three tribal groups of the Willandra Lakes region. The National Park based tours operate during school holidays and by special arrangement. Programs are released prior to each school holiday break.

Alternatively there are three private tour operators who access Mungo daily:

Harry Nanya Tours

Sunraysia Discovery Tours
