Q: How far are you from Mungo National Park?

A: We are 32km from the visitor information centre at Mungo National Park 


Q: How long does it take to get from Sydney to Turlee?

A: From Sydney it takes roughly 12 hours travelling across the Hay Plains to Balranald. We are then 100km north of (1 hour drive time) from Balranald.


Q: How long does it take to get from Melbourne to Turlee?

A: From Melbourne it takes roughly 7 hours travelling north to Swan Hill and then onto Balranald. We are then 100km north of (1 hour drive time) from Balranald.


Q: Do we need to book ahead for camping?

A: No, we do not allocate individual camp sites, you set up where best suits you so no bookings are required.


Q: Is Turlee accessible towing a caravan?

A: Absolutely! Do keep in mind though that there is at least 60km of dirt road to Turlee from any given direction. It would be beneficial for those with a standard (non off-road) caravan to give us a courtesy call for up to date road conditions prior to travel.


Q: Do you have powered camp sites?

A: No we don’t. But we do allow use of personal generators within the camp ground area.


Q: Do you have Air Conditioning?

A: We do not currently have any air conditioning in the shearers quarters. We promote the fact that we offer a genuine unique style of accommodation which educates individuals on the culture of Australian station life. For those wanting a more comfortable experience, the new Bush Cabins come equipped with both heating and cooling.


Q: Are you pet friendly?

A: Of course we are! What’s a farm stay if you can’t bring Rover!?.....We do ask though that you appreciate the fact that other guests are here to enjoy the serenity so dogs prone to barking a lot are discouraged. Dogs must also be supervised and appropriately restrained at all time.


We have working sheep dogs on our property and cannot be held liable if your pet comes into contact with our dogs that are tied up unless actually working sheep.


We ask that you tie up your dog securely outside at night and do not allow dogs to sleep inside the accommodation facilities due to local council health regulations.


Q: What happens if Turlee gets excessive rain prior to my arrival?

A: Unfortunately adverse weather conditions are just part and parcel with living in the outback! We will do our best to give you adequate warning or notice for wet weather forecasts and deposits are fully refundable for road closures. However please do not ask us to predict the weather as this is something that we cannot do!


If you are traveling to Turlee Station Stay and there has been wet weather, please contact the council office appropriate to where you will be traveling from to confirm road conditions and ensure safe traveling. Wentworth Council or Balranald Council.


Q: Is there fuel for sale in the local region?

A: No, the closest fuel to Turlee is 100km away so please fuel up before arrival. 


Q: Is there somewhere that we can buy a few provisions such as groceries or ice?

A: The nearest grocery or general store is 100km away so please ensure that you have all of your provisions with you before you arrive at Turlee. Bags of ice are available for purchase at Turlee. 


Q: Is there mobile phone service at Turlee?

A: There is no mobile phone coverage for at least 60km in any given direction from Turlee.


Q: Do I need a 4WD to get to Turlee Station?

A: No, you do not need a 4wd vehicle, most of the Arumpo Road is gravelled making accessible to those in a 2WD. It is advised that you allow a little extra travel time if travelling in a 2WD vehicle (extra 15-20 mins), and that you take your time in arriving.
